Ce De Candy Company Limited was founded in 1963 and is owned by the Dee family. On January 10, 1949, Edward Dee brought his family from England to New Jersey. Equipped with only two machines in a rented facility, he formulated the candy that was to become Rockets®, Canada’s favourite candy wafer roll (called “Smarties” in the United States). Many people had not heard of Ce De Candy Company Limited and called it “Rockets Candy Company” for years. So, in 2012, we began officially operating under the name, Rockets Candy Company!

In 1963, Ce De Candy Company Limited began producing candy on Queen Street in downtown Toronto. In 1988, the company built and then moved to its present location in Newmarket, Ontario to make more Rockets® and “Smarties®,” as they are called in the United States. The building on Queen Street still stands after being converted to a luxurious downtown residence called the Candy Factory Lofts. There are people now living in what was once the sweetest place on Earth!

In 2008, Ce De Candy Company Limited acquired the Breath Savers® brand and began making Canadian Breath Savers® at our Newmarket facility. This classic mint is a fresh addition to our original candy line!

Rockets Candy Company is a family-owned and family-run business! The Dee family continues their sweet tradition at their Union, New Jersey location where they also make Rockets® and American Smarties® candies. You can find Rockets®, Breath Savers® and other Rockets Candy Company products in pharmacies, mass merchandisers, wholesale clubs, specialty shops, grocery, dollar, convenience and local corner stores as well as various online retailers.
